Occupational Health & Safety

CUPE 454 has long recognized the importance of workplace health and safety, and especially the importance of improving workplace health and safety for our members. Preventing work-related accidents and illnesses has always been a priority, not just when contracts are negotiated, but on the job, every single day. Job Stewards and Health and Safety Committee members in your workplace are trained to detect any hazards that may result in injuries, and all members should report any hazards or dangerous situations to their Health and Safety Committee and management. If the employer doesn’t follow up and correct the hazard, contact your Union Representative immediately.

The current Union Members sitting on the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committees are as follows:

City Hall/DCAS Committee: Kathleen Chan, Jenna Walker-Grazier, Danielle Rancourt (Co-Chair) Committee Alternates: Wendy Li

Engineering/Parks Operations Committee: Cam Fraser (Co-Chair), Eli Wiebe, Chris Veale
Committee Alternates: John Schellenberg, Tracy Gustafson

Parks, Recreation & Culture Committee: Gary Hebein, Shelley Simpson, Ayla van Agteren, Luke Tetrault, Renata Busek
